PEACE TREE LIGHTING

Follow us on Facebook for up to the minute details!

Wednesday, November 14 - 6:00 p.m. - Brown County Courthouse

Join us as we light the evergreen tree outside the Brown County Courthouse! The Peace Tree Lighting  is a longtime tradition started 50 years ago by a group called People for People, in response to the Vietnam War and a need for peace. Today, we gather to hear community leaders and area children share their thoughts peace. Students from Webster Elementary and East High School will sing holiday music and it's a perfect way to kick off the holiday season in downtown Green Bay.

  • Celebrate 50 years of this event! The Mayor will be giving a proclamation to mark the occasion.
  • Essay winners Genevieve and Ellie from Leonardo da Vinci School will tell us what peace means to them.
  • Our emcee for the evening will be Jonathan, an 8th grader from Leonardo da Vinci.
  • Music will be provided by Kevin Flogel and students from Webster Elementary and East High School's "Rhapsody in Red."
  • Cookies will be available, courtesy of People for People Green Bay.
